Notes: - 6 - 7 months advance booking may be required for mountain hut room reservation. (There is limited accommodation at the Laban Rata rest house/hut near the summit, where climbers are required to stay overnight before an early morning ascent to the peak on the next day.)

- It is recommended that all trekkers should have themselves medically checked before attempting high altitude trek. If you have history of suffering from the following ailments, it is recommended that you should refrain from trekking to the high altitude. (Hypertension, Heart Disease, Severe Anemia, Epileptic Fits, Obesity, Muscular Cramps or any diseases which may hamper the trekker)

Itinerary Day 01 - Arrival/Kinabalu Park (Malaysia’s first Heritage Site) Meet and greet upon arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. Then enjoy an easy 2 hour scenic drive to the Kinabalu Park. Upon arrival at the park, you may explore the numerous trails around the park or visit the Mt Kinabalu Botanical Garden (mountain garden), which is an excellent showcase of diverse plant-life. Overnight at your hostel/hotel. Day 02 - Kinabalu Park Headquarters / Summit Trail / Mountain hut After breakfast, check out and proceed to the Kinabalu Park HQ for Registration and meet your Mountain Guide and transfer another 4 kilometres to the starting point - Timpohon at 1,866.4 metres where the Summit Trail starts. Packed lunch will be provided. Check in to a mountain hut at 3,222 metres and free at leisure. Day 03 - The Climb to the Peak/Park HQ/Kota Kinabalu At 3:00am, depart for the 3-hour trek (depending on fitness level) to the summit to catch the magnificent sunrise. By about 6:00am, you will reach your final destination: the summit of Borneo at 4,095.2 metres, known as Low’s Peak. Return to Laban Rata for breakfast and check out. The descent to Timpohon Gate takes about 4 - 5 hours. Thereafter, transfer to the Kinabalu Park for lunch. After lunch, return to Kota Kinabalu city and transfer to the airport for the evening flight home. |
