Malaysia Historical Melaka Package (The Stadthuys, Porta de Santiago, Hang Li Poh Well, Melaka Clock Tower)

Melaka - A popular full day excursion to the historical state of Melaka, where the history of Malaysia began. It is said that its greatest sea port was once captured by the Portuguese, Dutch and English as their trading port. Visit St Peter's Church (1710) - the oldest Christian Church still in use in Malaysia. Drive past the largest 17th century Chinese hill. Stop at the foothill to view the Sultan's Well before driving through the Portuguese settlement.

A'Famosa (Porta De Santiago) - The hallmark of Malacca and perhaps the most photographed subject next to the Stadthuys. Built by the Portuguese in 1511 as a fortress it sustained severe structural damage during the Dutch invasion. The Dutch had set to destroy in but timely intervention by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1808 saved what remains of A'Famosa today.

The Stadthuys - Built in 1650 as the official residence of Dutch Governors and their officers, the edifice is a fine example of Dutch architecture. Preserved in its original structure and form, it now houses the Historical and Ethnography Museum. On display daily are fine traditional bridal costumes and relics from Malacca's glorious past

Hang Li Poh’s Well - It was a well built by the followers of the Princess Hang Li Poh in 1459. The well never dried up and was the only source of water supply during the great droughts. It is today a wishing well where the visitors throw coins into it and make their wish.
